Research Assistant

Rachel Esra is a Research Assistant within the Department of Infectious Disease Epidemiology (PI: Jeff Eaton).

She assists with the development of the Naomi model and Additional software tools to produce district-level HIV estimates as part of the UNAIDs Reference Group on Estimates, Modelling and Projections.

Rachel’s PhD research is focused on characterising behavioral patterns relating to HIV treatment adherence in distinct South African populations where she collaborates with the Aurum Health Institute. Previously, she has worked as a Data Analyst for the USAID Southern Africa Mission where she assisted with Monitoring & Evaluation of national HIV services.

  • Modelling the impact of HIV and other STIs in sub-Saharan Africa
  • Development of targeted strategies for HIV testing and treatment
